The truth is that priests are no different than anybody else...and that's the real problem, isn't it? They are presented by themselves and by the Church as special, when they aren't.
A few accomplish good things, some are simply benign. There are those that by virtue of misplaced trust do terrible damage, to other individuals, communities, the institution of the church and peoples relationship with their God.
It's OK to trust a priest on the same basis that you would any other man. Never accept a priest at face value. This is a mistake many have made and lived to regret.
