Euthanasia -- Colorado’s Proposition 106 Would Dehumanize Medical Care

A Colorado brown bear sees in a wounded deer not a fellow creature to be helped but dinner. If Proposition 106 passes, legalizing euthanasia, something analogous to that brutish, subhuman relationship will obtain between doctors and their patients in Colorado, as those who were once considered fellow human beings to whom care was due are now taken to be problems to be technologically “solved” — or, worse, burdens to be lifted (from others, or from the state) by the self-administration of a lethal drug. And if that is what liberality, tolerance, and compassion have come to in the Centennial State, then Colorado is little more than nature red in tooth and claw, beneath a veneer of Rocky Mountain High civilization. Catholic church needs better way to select bishops

Pope Francis really believes there is a serious lack of quality among priests and bishops in the Catholic church. Otherwise, he would not talk so often about the negative traits of certain men in ordained ministry, as he's done again several times in recent days. Canadian polyamorists face unique legal challenges, research reveals - Politics - CBC News

When they legalized gay marriages, we Christians said that next would come polygamy. Its proponents accused us of promulgating a false 'slippery slope' argument that would never come to pass.  Calling it by a different name (polyamory instead of polygamy) is just a smoke screen to confuse the issue. To quote William Shakespeare, 'A rose by any other name....' I hate it when we Christians are proven correct.  Canadian polyamorists face unique legal challenges, research reveals - Politics - CBC News

"But there's a rub. In addition to the amendment, the board adopted a complementary policy forbidding any member institution from using "exemptions for bona fide occupational requirements in an employments relationship to discriminate based on protected grounds,  whether or not such exemptions would be otherwise permitted under applicable human rights law. " In other words, the carefully measured balances that courts have sorted through when it comes to conflicting rights isn't good enough for Universities Canada. To remain within Universities Canada, some universities may be required to waive some of their legal rights as both employers and educators." To tell someone they're wrong, first tell them how they're right: Wisdom for all evangelists!

Put simply, Pascal suggests that before disagreeing with someone, first point out the ways in which they’re right. And to effectively persuade someone to change their mind, lead them to discover a counter-point of their own accord. To tell someone they're wrong, first tell them how they're right — Quartz

Alberta appeal court rules judges can overturn ‘unfair’ church edicts after man shunned by Jehovah’s Witnesses

The new ruling... will be relevant to other religious groups, which often deal with controversial expulsions of members or ministers. The United Church of Canada, for example, is seeking to defrock Greta Vosper because she is an atheist. And many Catholics are not in communion with their Church after, for example, divorce and secular remarriage.
