All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p. How to Make An Atheist

Atheism is the zeitgeist of our times and the default state of the average citizen. According to a 2022  study , roughly 50% of the populations of most Western countries identify as atheist or its noncommittal cousin, “agnostic.” The world has fallen so far that any religious activity whatsoever is an aberration, nevermind strict adherence to “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” How to Make An Atheist

Pregnancy centres under legislative threat: Trudeau's Liberals continue to demonstrate their contempt for what 'pro-choice' actually stands for.

Trudeau's Liberals continue to demonstrate their contempt for what 'pro-choice' actually stands for. They will use the public purse to support and promote abortion services and advocacy groups but punish those others that offer women material and emotional support in the cause of life. Clearly, they are saying to every woman who has chosen to bring her pre-born child to life, to either raise him/her herself or offer to another family through adoption, that her decision isn't as worthy or meritorious as one that would have ended the pregnancy with an abortion.  Every pregnancy support centre that I have been involved in offers material support and emotional counselling to women wrestling with one of the most traumatic and consequential decisions of their life: to keep or abort their unborn baby. They strive to lift as much stress and provide a safe environment for a woman so that she can make the right decision freely and independently for themselves. Do we pray and hope

How Pope Francis is changing the shape of the Roman Curia

A good friend of mine who is very familiar with the inner workings of the Curia has a saying: Personnel is policy. So, it isn't that Pope Francis has shuffled the chairs with his reform of it, the proof will be found in the people who he chooses to sit in those positions of authority. This means that the next few months should be very interesting to those who are interested to see in which direction the Holy Father intends the Church to move as he appoints heads and deputies to all these new Dicasteries.  How Pope Francis is changing the shape of the Roman Curia | Catholic News Agency

Pope: Traditionalism is ‘dead memory’ and ‘paganism of thought’

"Speaking to Jesuits in Canada, Pope Francis took a shot at so-called 'traditionalists,' saying tradition itself is life-giving and allows forward movement, where as traditionalism is ‘the dead faith of believers’ and only leads backwards."
