Raymond J. de Souza: New report recommends turning the Armed Forces into a secular theocracy

"Indeed, the panel advocates firing all Muslim and Orthodox Jewish chaplains, as well Catholic priests and many Protestant pastors. They will all fall afoul of the new theological orthodoxy." "The panel recommends, in effect, that the CAF hold the theological view that there is no difference between believing in the Triune God of Father, Son and Holy Spirit and professing belief in the divinities of the Roman pantheon, and that all its chaplains should hold this view."   YIKES!!!  Raymond J. de Souza: New report recommends turning the Armed Forces into a secular theocracy | National Post

Why Vance Pitman, megachurch pastor, resigned as top leader at his Las Vegas church

This article offers some excellent advice on building a 'Church' as opposed to serving a parish. The latter focuses on serving the committed while the former speaks to converting the local culture. I fear too many of us priests focus almost exclusively on the former when the path to true growth and ministry seems to be found via the latter. The Vatican holds billions in assets. Residential school survivors say the Pope should step up on compensation

WOW! That didn't take very long. The Pope apologizes for the abuses suffered by First Nations children, and the next story out is a demand to open the Vatican wallet to pay cash in compensation. No doubt though, this is a story driven by the legal firms that represent various victims. They are anxious to get their cut of whatever settlements are coming to their clients. Lawyers are always more interested in reconciling their bank accounts than they are with working towards a reconciliation between the Church and Canada's aboriginal population. Sadly though, this proves a point that many bloggers and Church members have predicted: that the purpose of SOME who worked towards obtaining this apology from the Vatican did so more out of financial considerations than for justice for those victimized in the Residential Schools program.
