The overwhelming defeat of Bill C-384 proved that we can Push-Back the euthanasia lobby in the US and Canada and convince people that euthanasia and assisted suicide are a dangerous public policy. Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
"This article sadly follows the template that almost all mainstream reporting falls into:
ReplyDelete1.Selective comical use of Catholic phrases (…'may issue a mea culpa').
2.Ignorant petty descriptions of the Church (…'morphed into a pep rally').
3.Stretching statements by officials (… 'he "wouldn’t be surprised" if the pontiff [apologized]')."
Yeah, no kidding. I understand exactly his frustration, and most times I even share it!
But understand that all sides who "report" on any issue do the same thing. It's not about being "right" or "wrong" -- it's about attracting the most attention -- and thereby gaining the most game points -- to one's own issues by being more inflated than everyone else on other sides of the same issue. And it's not limited to media, either. Everyone does it. It's how we make our lives more interesting.
