Homosexual men twice as likely to have cancer: study | LifeSiteNews.com

Aaah... but isn't the question: Does one cause the other? (in this case, does homosexuality cause cancer?) Just because A follows B does not mean that the former is necessarily a causal agent of the latter. Yet if the goal of this medical research is to uncover 'truth', then we must be willing to examine and explore wherever the evidence leads even if we fear that the conclusions will not support previously held convictions. At the very least this apparent correlation needs to be further studied before any substantiation can be ascribed to the conclusion that Lifesitenews seems to have drawn. Given the plethora of sexually transmitted diseases that menaces sexually active individuals, soon there will be a study that will claim that sex is dangerous to one's health. Wait a minute...wasn't there one recently???  I wonder if the conspiracy theorists who always see the evil forces of 'Papism' behind everything will believe that this rash of stories extollin...

The blog is intended to be a place where all voices are heard with respect. Below is the text of an email sent to me which I received with her signature. I post her heartwrenching question here in the hope that you might have something to offer her as well.

Dear Barbara, My apologies for taking so long to post your message to me. I've been ill and away from my computer. As you can see, I have now posted it below. You'll also no doubt will note that I have removed any personal or geographic identifiers so as to preserve and present the essence of your argument without calumniating other institutions or persons.  The tenor of your message and that of the Youtube video prove that you are a mother whose heart has been broken - and to a very significant degree found life itself rendered heavy and burdensome by the cross that has been laid upon your shoulders - and you need, desire, want and demand that someone hear and acknowledge the truth and pain of your experience. I have heard your song sung by mothers of all ages, faiths (or not) and stations in life before and you offer a powerful counterpoint to those who do not want to believe that pain and grief is a reality in everyone's life. I thank you for sharing your message a...

A note from a friend of this blog!!

Father Tim, I just couldn't figure out how to email you at your blog.  I hope this will suffice.  I am trying to get some leverage for a fast/pray initiative this Monday.  Could you please help by mentioning it on your blog?  (besides, the radicals will love to hear that we STILL fast and pray in desperate times!) Thanks so much, Father Tim. Kathie Hogan Parry Sound, Ontario ---------------------------------------------------- John Pacheco (SoCon or Bust) has called for a day of fasting and prayer this Monday.  (and you thought I'd ask you to write a letter!) The Canadian bishops will be talking about Development and Peace at 11:45am on Monday, at their annual plenary session, in Cornwall, Ontario.  Pro-lifers have been waiting a long time to hear the bishops speak definitively on why - 1. Development and Peace is giving money to fund 47 pro-abortion groups in the Third World? (see: http://www.socon.ca/index/dp_abortion.html and http://www.li...

Excellent dialogue on St. Joseph's Health Care Center's (London, Ontario) practice in dealing with unborn babies who suffer fatal anomalies

I have been engaged in a civil and enlightening discussion with "Steve" who blogs at Catholic Dialogue (http://catholic-dialogue.blogspot.com/) on the controversial practice of inducing early birth for babies determined to have fatal deformities. LifeSiteNews brought attention to this story by declaring that this was a Catholic hospital that was performing "abortions". While I do not agree with the assessment of those who are opposed to this practice, it is one that needs to be debated with the aim of bringing clarity to the issues. I have studied bioethics and moral theology as part of my seminary training and ongoing education, but I do not presume to call myself expert in these fields. Your presence in this discussion would no doubt be welcome by Steve, as well as by anyone who is concerned about this issue. See you there!
