'More' power given to Human Rights Tribunals??

"A landmark Supreme of Canada ruling has significantly widened the reach of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, handing a broad range of administrative tribunals the right to find Charter violations and create legal remedies. In a 9-0 ruling on Friday, the court said that administrative tribunals – quasi-judicial bodies that hear cases involving everything from labour relations and school boards to human rights are perfectly capable of applying the Charter in their fields of expertise. “We do not have one Charter for the courts and another for administrative tribunals,” said Madam Justice Rosalie Abella, the architect of the transformation." Christianity: A Threatened Belief (The arrival of persecution for Canadian Christians)

It once was held as gospel that Quebec was one of the most Catholic jurisdiction in the world. The clergy dominated virtually every field of public life, even to instructing the faithful how to vote, under pain of sin (“Le ciel est bleu, l’enfer est rouge”). Christian Horizons, an organization that provides residential care services to severely handicapped persons, has been brought before the H.R.C. by an employee who was dismissed for living in a lesbian relationship despite signing a Christian code of conduct statement as part of her employment that forbid employees from living in such a non-biblical relationship. The ruling of the HRC tribunal was that since Christian Horizons did not limit itself to providing care to only Christians, it could not demand that its employees live in accordance with biblical principles. What's truly bizarre is that is the same HRC that previously stated that the organization could not place such a condition upon its employees UNLESS they signed suc...

Human Rights Tribunals: An attack upon Christians?

Just stumbled across an article (link pasted below) that reports that Canada's Human Rights Tribunals have now been labeled as oppressing Christian belief. I know, I know... hard to believe. Alas, it is true. These institutions set up in the 70's are now a principle agency that is trying to scrub religious expression from the public square. Think I'm wrong? Read the article yourself and come to your own conclusion. http://scaryfundamentalist.blogspot.com/2009/11/voice-of-martyrs.html
