The Last Remaining Prejudice? Not Hardly! | Blogs | NCRegister.com

Here's another article, written by Jimmy Aikens from the National Catholic Register, which takes a different slant than the previous one written by 'Mundabor'. While Aikens does agree that the Church has a big job ahead of it in promoting its message, he not agree with Mundabor that anti-Catholicism is rampant. Your thoughts? The Last Remaining Prejudice? Roseanne Barr: Church-going Catholics 'Should Lose Custody' of Their Kids | NewsBusters.org

Why does Roseanne Barr even merit media coverage for her opinion? It's just ANOTHER illustration of using this scandal for personal gain - just as many are guilty of the same. "Justice for victims" becomes secondary to contingency fees for lawyers and publicity for washed-up former 'stars' like Barr or Sinead O'Connor. Sad, sad, sad! Different standards for Catholic vs Protestant clergy offenders

Today's National Post published an article about another Newfoundland Priest who has been charged with child pornography charges. The one difference this time is that the alleged offender is a priest of the Anglican Church of Canada and not Roman Catholic. Actually, there is another notable difference. In the 24+ hours that this story has been posted on the NP website, not one single comment of condemnation has appeared in the response to these sordid revelations. When it is a Roman Catholic clergyman, within mere minutes the vitriolic avalanche of comments begin to accumulate in the comment threads, usually hitting 100+ responses/comments within the first 24-36 hours. This most certainly is the case whenever the Lahey scandal incites a new report within the pages of the National Post. Now that the clergyman is a married man with children... and protestant... the story passes without a single comment. But is this one case not insufficient to justify a charge of general prej...

Archbishop Duncan of the Anglican Church of North America on the Anglican Schism

Any argument that ends as does below is a definite must read for any serious Catholic! Archbishop Duncan, however, said he appreciated the gesture by the Pope because it was an acknowledgement that orthodox Anglicanism is a legitimate part of the ancient Church. He made it clear that ACNA wants to remain faithful to Anglicanism but there will be a small minority of Anglicans with Catholic leanings that will seek a home in Rome. He also noted that the Anglicanism of the future could learn from the Catholic Church. “In the 20th century they began to rise to true global leadership. They made extraordinary choices in John Paul II and Benedict who are building a Church for the future. The British system has not produced leaders as capable.” (Italics added). Archbishop Dolan confronts the issue of anti-Catholicism with the media

October 29, 2009 The following article was submitted in a slightly shorter form to the New York Times as an op-ed article. The Times declined to publish it. I thought you might be interested in reading it. FOUL BALL! By Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan Archbishop of New York October is the month we relish the highpoint of our national pastime, especially when one of our own New York teams is in the World Series! Sadly, America has another national pastime, this one not pleasant at all: anti-catholicism. It is not hyperbole to call prejudice against the Catholic Church a national pastime. Scholars such as Arthur Schlesinger Sr. referred to it as “the deepest bias in the history of the American people,” while John Higham described it as “the most luxuriant, tenacious tradition of paranoiac agitation in American history.” “The anti-semitism of the left,” is how Paul Viereck reads it, and Professor Philip Jenkins sub-titles his book on the topic “the last acceptable pr...
