Harry Reid: We’ll shut down government before we shut down Planned Parenthood funding | LifeSiteNews.com

Talk about having your priorities screwed up! Harry Reid provides an almost perfect example. When pro-life politicians ask to have their concerns addressed in legislation such as Obamacare (which I support BTW even though I'm not an American - a country as rich as the USA should provide health care to its citizens) they are denounced as extremists who would destroy the country. Now with this statement from Reid it will be interesting to see if the same media which denounced Stupak and his fellow legislators offers the same type of denunciation for his threat to shit down the entire US government over his pro-choice stance. Probably not.

  1. Father Tim:

Supporting Obamacare makes you unusual for thoee of us who live here in the US (even if only part time).

Imagine being 10 Trillion Dollars in debt and then committing to spend another trillion to bring about a health care plan that you cannot afford, that is based on pork for the Democrats in the House at the time to get their votes, and then write it up in 16,000 pages so it is unmanageable, an make people vote on it in a hurry without reading it, as if that would have been possible anyway.

    Gives one pause, I hope.

Sisters of Life

Here is an excellent website for any and all interested in the pro-life cause. The Sisters of Life are a religious order than began in New York City under the authority of Cardinal Jon O'Connor (RIP) in the 1980's. Their traditional religious lifestyle and clear charism have led them to grow much faster than many other orders. As a result, these wonderful women are moving beyond the boundaries of NYC and have opened a convent in Toronto. Here is a link to a news account from LifesiteNews which explains in greater detail their history and mission in Toronto. The Sisters of Life count among their numbers a woman from our Parish here in Mattawa who is soon to take her final profession. This is one of the greatest blessings that we have received as a parish. Anytime a religious vocation comes forward from a parish community, many graces flow back to the local church. I can only pray that as the Sisters of Life establish their ministry in Canada that more and more women will join
