Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
This has always been religion's claim. That the world is more than the reductionist, analytically, rationalist world of science. That our emotional side leads us to truths as well.
ReplyDeleteWhile science, through the scientific method, posits a methodology of judging the veracity of competing claims how do emotional claims on the nature of God and creation get evaluated. Is there any way that says a sincere Catholic with a positive emotional experience at the Eucharist is any for valid than a Jehovah's Witness, or a Hindu, or a Zoroastrian.
I know some people, friends of mine, who have spiritual beliefs that I find incredulous from a rational point of view, but I don't doubt their sincere beliefs. Are we not subject to a form of spiritual relativism?
