Pell and the church are scapegoats for a multitude of sins

Position and rank don't always signify that much in he church. Pell is the Pope's main guy in Australia. Just like Chaput is the main guy in US. Dolan is higher but Chaput is the go to guy. Mahoney was very senior in Us for a long time and ran the very important LA chapter. Was always virtually ignored. Not a boy that JP or Benny ever warmed up to.

In the early history of Australia the church was both powerful and patronizing to a populace largely disenfranchised, uneducated and searching to find a way and a coherent identity. I don't think the people of Australia are too enthused about the "teaching authority" of the church. They will always have a soft spot for the nuns and missionary fathers that helped them when things were hard and they were in bondage.

I don't think they mistake Pell and Pope Benny for the nuns and missionary fathers of the past. The people of Towoomba were very happy with their "Bishop Bill", who had led them for a generation. Look what the chirch did to poor Bill. Tsk Tsk.

Sisters of Life

Here is an excellent website for any and all interested in the pro-life cause. The Sisters of Life are a religious order than began in New York City under the authority of Cardinal Jon O'Connor (RIP) in the 1980's. Their traditional religious lifestyle and clear charism have led them to grow much faster than many other orders. As a result, these wonderful women are moving beyond the boundaries of NYC and have opened a convent in Toronto. Here is a link to a news account from LifesiteNews which explains in greater detail their history and mission in Toronto. The Sisters of Life count among their numbers a woman from our Parish here in Mattawa who is soon to take her final profession. This is one of the greatest blessings that we have received as a parish. Anytime a religious vocation comes forward from a parish community, many graces flow back to the local church. I can only pray that as the Sisters of Life establish their ministry in Canada that more and more women will join
