Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. This is because only the Italian cardinals can be trusted to push the new trend toward a strict, reactionary moral stance in the Holy See after he is gone.
ReplyDeleteIt's not because they are such firm believers but that they are jaded, hypocritical and know that such pap is only for the consumption of the plebes, anyway.
A liberal pope might be dangerous to the entrenched power structure of the church but a true believer from the provinces would be disastrous. God help us if the pope actually believed!
