Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
I haven't been able to get a feel for Cardinal Mamberti. I googled his name but didn't get a lot of insightful links.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne: Same for me. He appears to have had a successful run in the diplomatic wing of the curia and apparently (according to my sources) will bring an orthodox ecclesiology and theology to the Signatura.
ReplyDeleteI did find it interesting though that Cardinal Burke's term seem to have been among the longest there, at least during the modern period. This would seem to pour water on the argument that he has been evicted prematurely from office. When you look down the list of his predecessors his 6+ year run is longer than only three individuals who successively were each at the head of that dicastery for a 10 year term in the later 50's through the 70's. Virtually all the others were 6 years or less. It kind of leads me to wonder whether or not his transfer to the Order of Malta is actually an unwarranted demotion or not. What do you think?
