Of course it does, it just doesn't have the meaning assigned to it by what ever religion/denomination we happened to belong to. Atheists often say if you want your life to have a purpose, do something purposeful. Act so that you live your live leaving the woreld and those around you better than when you found them. What more purpose than that could one want?
