Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p. What's going on?
I agree that he would not be subject to automatic excommunication (which ought to be done away with forthwith). If he refused to be celibate, did not recite the breviary etc..the lack of celibacy would be a sin and subject to the confessional.Like you, I find it strange that he is required to pray the daily office..this is new to me.That he retains the mark of priesthood is not a problem and he woud be required to hear a confession in danger of death etc. This is a very sad case and is not new to the church and no doubt more alarming stories will emerge. One hopes he would pray and fast for his past and for his former confreres. And we mjust pray for him.
