Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p. Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
Fighting the contraception mandate is a loser for the Catholic Bishops, the laity is not solidly behind them on this but if that's what they want to do, more power to them.
ReplyDeleteTaking the case to the courts is suicidal, win would be worse than lose. I hope somebody they trust clues them in and dissuades them from that course of action.
If the bishops are leading a popularity contest where right and wrong are determined by the winds of the day you'd be 100% correct. They should cave and do whatever would be the most popular course of action. However if they are in the business of serving God and upholding truth, they should fight this with every ounce of there being. If "catholics" choose to bail because of it, so be it. Jesus never compromised with the devil, nor should his church.
