Sorry, I'm not much impressed with the objections. When the document was first written, it literally mean that men were created "equal." Women and people of color were not included in the sentiment. And most definitely not children! So crying about it now does no good.

As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."
It's a living document. As we evolve, so it must, as well. And in a time when far fewer people automatically think that there is a Universal Creator, keeping to the narrow, restricted, and restrictive thoughts that Jefferson first put on hemp makes absolutely no sense at all.
