BioWare: Mass Effect 3 to permit gay male romance - The Globe and Mail

It's not the fact that this video game offers the option of virtual gay sex that I find offensive... it's the fact that sex is an option at all! I guess I am out of date with current popular opinion on dealing with sex in such a public manner. These games have multiple player options, right? Is it at all hard to see that this might create a virtual 'crop of innocents' to fall prey to the seductions of other (probably older) predators who hide behind the mask of a game avatar? Given the recent hacking of the recent Sony Playstation network it would seem that this is not an insignificant risk that should be a concern to parents.

Just another example of the coarsening of our culture. It may be sad to witness but it's true nonetheless.

  1. Tim, did you miss the part where they specify that this game is specifically for gay gamers? Which does not mean, of course, that others are barred from playing, but the game itself was designed for gay players.

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
