I am afraid this sounds like it was written by an American isolationist, if it didn't happen in the U.S., it is inferior.

Soccer is the "Beautiful Game", and might I add that in Canada more kids play soccer than hockey. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I think it’s all a question of national temperament. Americans seem to like things that are in your face (just look at the films they make) and where things happen and change rapidly. (Notice how scenes in films get shorter and shorter.) They seem to be unable to appreciate forms of entertainment which are more intellectual and where the mind needs to be able to appreciate subtleties. They are, for example, totally unable to appreciate cricket.

Good comment W G Grace, agree!

Father Tim, did you see the Paraguay vs Spain game? Now any hockey quarter final would be hard pressed to beat the drama and excitment in that game.

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
