  1. Hi Tim,

I support the view that the state should actively and effectively protect the right of citizens to practice a religion, switch to a different religion, or to practice no religion at all.

What I do not support are laws which ciminalize "blasphemy". People ought to be free to criticize their own religion, and the religion practiced by others - provided that such criticism does not cross the line into hate speech. My sincere hope is that such criticism is always principled and free of malicious propaganda, lies, or half truths.

The only way to truly balance freedom of speech, religion, and conscience is to ensure a high wall of spearation between the state and religion. Only a strong secular state stands a chance of protecting the religious freedoms of all - especially religious minorities.

    Cheers...Martin

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
