Rick Perry sure knows how to market himself: 50% Marlboro Man and 50% effective leader. It's a potent package.

It is sometimes difficult for Canadians to understand how some of America's politicians get elected. Their portrayal in the mass media seems to paint them as too extreme to be considered electable. And yet they continue to have success. I previously posted a slick ad from Ron Paul. This is a compilation of Rick Perry ads from the start of his career as a politician. Say what you want about American pols... they are good at selling themselves in the public market.

(NOTE: I'm posting Republican ads because they're the only ones around these days. Democrats are just as slick. I'm not that interested in ads from 3rd parties so I don't post many here.)

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
