‘Pope Benedict is an enemy of the state’ | spiked

An interesting take on B16's visit to Britain, written by an columnist who professes himself to be an atheist.

  2. Michael:

Sadly no... I have to admit that it was me, but I wrote it in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. I did however think that I had deleted the post when I re-read it and saw how cheap and demeaning I was being. It was one of those 'write out a nasty response to get it out of my system' types of notes that I did not intend to publish. Clearly I should have taken more care to ensure that I had in fact deleted it.

My sincere apologies to Lisbeth40 and to anyone else who took offense at my intemperate remarks. It is certainly not one of my finest moments.

  3. *ahem* First, he lambastes the protesters for confusing one religion with another, and immediately afterwards he comes up with: "The whole thing had a whiff of voodoo about it, as the protesters sought to make the pontiff into a doll they could beat up." *sigh* Perhaps when the protesters have finsihed reading his suggested, Are You Smarter Than A 10-Year-Old?, he can borrow it from one of them...

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
