Ontario Education Minister: Catholic schools can’t teach abortion is wrong - that’s ‘misogyny’ | LifeSiteNews.com

Laurel Broten said that arguments against legal abortion are “misogynistic” and therefore should be banned under Ontario’s Bill 13, a law that bans bullying. The education minister said that “we’re very clear with the passage of Bill 13 that Catholic teachings cannot be taught in our schools that violates human rights and which brings a lack of acceptance to participation in schools.”

As predicted... here come's the onslaught forcing the Catholic system to change its moral teachings to accommodate current mores.

It's interesting how an Act that was supposed to be geared towards fostering 'equality' is being used to enforce an anti-Catholic, anti-life agenda. Sad... but interesting. Even I didn't expect the Ontario government to go this far. Evidently I was mistaken.

  1. I don't necessarily agree with the minister's statement but quite frankly Catholic Schools need to go private (as many have) if they want no government interference. Unlike non religious private schools parents would be able to claim a tax credit for part of the tuition.

    1. Rationalist: It sure seems as if 'full funding' has turned out to be a disaster for Catholics ability to teach its values in the Separate School System. I fear that you're correct though. Going private might be the only way to preserve any Catholicity at all.

  2. I agree with Bob (R1) Father Tim. Full funding has compromised our values. However, I think that Bill 13 must be followed by private schools as well.

Regardless, Ms. Broten speaks with forked tongue. Misogyny is a cute quaint word, that ignorant people like to throw around. It makes one sound smart; though there are exceptions, and Ms. Broten is one of them.

Misogyny is the hatred or dislike of women or girls. In that many abortions are sex selective, and guess which sex they are selecting for the kill, abortion is more than 50% misogynistic. Lying to women about the long term effects of abortion would seem to be misogynistic as well.

Good will to all men? Not from the grumpy atheists! (Thank God not all atheists are grumpy but there sure seems to be a lot of them)

Why is it that so many in the atheist community cannot bring  themselves to get past their anger whenever they engage in discussions? The language of many of their contributions in public debate is laced with invective and dripping with sarcasm and bile. There are exceptions of course, but they tend to fall more into the category of being the 'exception that proves the rule' when compared to the hostility of many of today's atheist posters. Comment offered by the theists in the public square is often depicted as being 'malicious' or 'venomous' and intended to enslave the 'feeble minded and weak' by those who post. Nothing could be further from the truth. Venom is something that is oriented to death. Christians are oriented in a 180 degree different direction. We speak not to the culture of death  that grips our world but rather for the culture of life and light which ends with the gift of eternal life. For example, the Catholic Church in its hum...
