Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
Previous popes have expressed "sorry" and "hearfelt Sympathy" but didn't use the word apology or sorry. Phil Fontaine has said that even though it fell short of an apology he accepted it. If he has accepts the pope's statement then I am not one to criticize his position. But when future historians look back on this dark chapter in Canadian history they we note that the Catholic Church as the only church not to issue a formal apology. I would think, thinking long term, it's in the Catholic Church's best interest to fully get this issue behind it.
