Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p. Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
There a story of a recent upstart in Boston Society who was attempting to join one of the more exclusive clubs. Looking at his lack of pedigree this Boston Brahman descended from the Mayflower said to the prospective member. "In our club we put great emphasis on breeding." The young man remarked. "I think it's fun too, but I do have other interests".
ReplyDeleteMy point is that the human species is defined by more than it's ability to create progeny, inaccurately pigeon holed into male and female (by some estimates 1 to 10,0000 births have ambiguous sex). But even if we were, as Genesis proclaimed, "male and female He created them", in fact we transcend sexual roles. Yes it's important, but we do have other interests. We love, we learn, we help, we create, we explore, we emphasize, we support, we do all those things that make us human. Compared to our biological roles, determined by evolution, these are much more important.
