Are We Finally Witnessing The Death Of Christianity In America? | Zack Hunt

"For a while now, declining Church attendance, the rise of the nones, and an increasingly secular society have all seemed like the biggest threats to the future of Christianity in America.
But that is not where the existential danger comes from.
The future of Christianity in this country isn't threatened by shifting demographics.
The Christian faith in America is on life support because far too many of us have simply stopped living like Jesus."

Too true...

  1. May I make the suggestion that church attendence is declining not because people have stopped living like Jesus but have stopped believing in Jesus as necessary for their lives. And ironically the churches that are doing well, attendance wise, are the ones that are preaching a rightwing gospel that is at odds with much of what is recorded in the gospels. One just as to look at the reaction to the Syrian refugees by many right wing Christians today, especially in the US.

All good things must come to an end

Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p.
