  1. Why do you submit so many scientific bits for us, when there are so many other items more conducive to the tone of the Blog?
We can always go to a better site to get more accurate science info.
Is it that a Priest does not find enough in the Gospels to talk about, that he must get into speculative research?

  2. Anon: Simple! We can learn and appreciate a a great deal about God by learning more and more about his handiwork in creating all there is. Theology has long taught it is wrong to only view God as a cosmic clockmaker, but it is also true that we should always find awe in our hearts and minds when we discover another bit of how God wrought and sustains the universe.

Bishop Fred Henry, when he was one of my seminary professors, wisely taught that Catholics should have a bible in one hand and a newspaper, journal, or text in the other. The discoveries of science strengthens our faith. At least it does for me.

    1. Those poor Apostles, Disciples, early Martyrs, and assorted other followers of The Word
did not have newspapers, the internet, journals, or other distractions that could lead them away from the Word of God !
Every time I hear the above rationalization, it reminds me of what Lucifer said- I will not serve! If one has mastered the Bible, New and Old Testaments, and the revealed Word, then if he is a Priest I thought that is what he was supposed to talk about !!!

    2. Anon: Those poor apostles etc. also didn't have cars, electricity, modern means of communication or antibiotics. Should I eschew all of them because they are the fruits of modern science? You are either: a) antediluvian b) confused or c)intending only to spread silly malice and insult. I leave it to you to decide.
