This article is spot on.One has to ask how many get married with this thinking and even expressing the idea that 'if it doesn't work then..."A more important question might be if they really were 'free' to marry at the time.So many issues might have been at play so that there was no real freedom to enter into the marriage. So many ifs, ands and buts!

Hi Tim! I hope you are resting and taking steps to improve your health.

I love most everything that Pope Francis teaches through word and example. His Petrine ministry continues to be a great blessing for the Church and the world.

This latest reflection makes me somewhat uncomfortable. While I totally agree with his musings, I do not think that it was helpful to make them known. He has a unique responsibility not to bring confusion or doubt to the Church and I fear that many will not understand his meaning.

As a canonist, I have instructed and judged a good number of cases. The beginning point for this ministry is Canon 1060 - the presumption of validity until proven otherwise. This presumption is necessary so as to preclude any environment of confusion or ecclesial chaos.
