Well, it's been a hell of a ride, laying rubber all over the road for the past decade. But it's time to call it a day and park the Rogue in the garage. Effective today, I am shutting down my blog to focus my attention on other endeavours. My thanks to the more than 2.7 million people who regularly joined me on these sojourns through news stories over the years that dealt with the places with issues of religion and faith intersecting with public affairs. May God bless you with a continuing desire to learn about and help disseminate the issues of faith throughout the public square. Happy trails in your continuing travels! Fr. Tim Moyle, p.p. Reflections from the pastoral ministry of an Evangelical Catholic Priest.
It is clear that whatever the church does will never be good enough. Shoot every pedophile, take every penny from every church throughout the world and the refrain will be the same "took far too long", "they only did it because we forced them", "it's only window dressing".........
ReplyDeleteI suppose I shouldn't be upset to read Ballard's comments. He has commented in this fashion a number of times on another site that I have followed [Sylvia's Site]. The reality is Steve Ballard has neither the understanding nor the compassion to deal with the poor souls who have been abused as children by the "religious"...a reminder to Ballard...it's not your church..you are but a servant as we all are..
DeleteMr Sylvestre, thanks for your reply. And I would make more comments on Sylvia's Site if she wasn't frightened about open dialogue.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that it is possible to have deep care and concern for the victims and their families, while at the same time raising concerns about reactions to legitimate and proven steps that have been taken to ensure that this sinful and evil abuse never happens again in OUR church?
In reading the article that this post references, are you not concerned that right out of the box people reject the Holy Father's initiative before it has even taken place? His care, compassion, openness and authentic witness to Christ is inspiring.
The Holy Father was elected just over one year ago and has accomplished a great deal. For some NO matter what is done, it will be inadequate.
