Reading has always been an essential part of my life spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. From my earliest days I can remember sitting down in a corner with my nose buried deep in a book, lost in the imagery and narrative of a story. My mother used to remark that she could set a bomb off around me when I was reading and I probably wouldn't even notice. Even today I am inspired by a personal image of heaven as a library filled with more works than I could read in an eternity!
Thus, when I came upon this story of a bishop who recommends reading the classics as a method of developing and sustaining one's faith, I couldn't resist sharing it here. So for all my fellow bibliophiles, here's something from a spiritual shepherd that we can all relate to.

Promoting reading in today's day and age is very worthwhile.
