  1. From a quick glance at the comments on NCR it's not that popular among Catholics, at least of the American variety. Too bad.

    1. Michael: The NCR is definitely not popular with big 'C' conservative Catholics on either side of the border. Too bad really since they sometimes have some excellent articles worth reading. I can never understand the logic of closing oneself off to an entire swatch of media just because one doesn't agree with their politics. One should cast as wide an eye as possible even if only to learn what 'the enemy' is up to! That's something that St. JPII taught and practiced - but it didn't seem to take root with the ultra CATHOLIC ORTHODOX crowd.

    2. I agree about the media. I read The Economist cover to cover each week partly to challenge my viewpoint on issues. The other part is because it is so well written and there are not too many publications today where that can be said.

      I hope this pope manages to sway some of these "ultra Catholic orthodox" cafeteria Catholics.
