Is Anybody There? In Hell That Is. Speaking personally, I hope not but I fear I may be disappointed.

Is Anybody There?…In Hell That Is.

  1. When it comes to hell, it's time for people of all faiths to stop accepting the eternal torment of hell as a moral punishment for any sort of crime or religious blasphemy. I think we'll find that if we changed our acceptance of such a place, God would follow as God has so often done in the past as our morals change and improve.

  2. Rationalist1 is making a huge assumption that morals will improve.

If Hell is to stop being "a moral punishment for any sort of crime or religious blasphemy" what is to be its purpose?

And how do we know God has and will continue to follow?

    1. Morals will improve when we stop needing rewards and punishments to do the right thing and start doing good for "goodness sake"

  3. JP , Rationalist1 is making a huge REASONABLE assumption. That ® distinction is important because it’s the same SORT of assumption that Jesus Christ made.
There was a time when we humans could club our neighbour over the head in order to take what we want from him and that was considered ‘ morally’ acceptable because that is what was necessary at the time for survival.
The process in a nutshell JP is called ‘evolution’ and in the greater scope of reality it is an imposed natural progressive good on God’s creation (which includes mankind.) by a very fundamental, intrinsic and universal attraction to God Himself.
We know from Jesus Christ that human beings transcend ‘morals’ and we know much more importantly that God transcends both.

  4. A Father who is willing to allow you to repeatedly fail may well seem like one who follows

    1. Larry: Funerals have shredded my holiday plans to this point in time... but a funeral in Chapeau on Thursday is bringing me to my cottage tomorrow evening for a couple until Friday morning. Is there a time in there that works for you and Arden? Reply to this message with your answer. I won't publish it.

  8. I'm not at all fussy. Aside from venison, I can eat anything. Whatever suits Arden will be great. Thanks.
