  1. Children are living , breathing , beautiful human beings. They are not 'minors!'
Those who use the term 'minors' in relation to clergy sexual molestation of children, unwittingly reveal a very fundamental disconnect between thinking head and vulnerable heart.

  3. Larry: 1) You could be right, however I suspect that the use of the term reflects the legal reality that abusing a child (aka a 'minor') is different from other types of abuse in that it is more grievous and harmful.

    2) Could you please send me your phone number again? I'd like to see if there's a date where I can finally get together with you
and Arden. I would enjoy the visit and we can get caught up after my absence of so many years. Of course, I won't publish it. Thanks.

    Fr. Tim

  4. Legally more grievous and harmful? This represents a brand new use for the term or a lame defence…one or the other.
We refer to children as 'minors' when we want to express the fact that a child is to young to smoke or to young to drink alcohol or vote or even to view pornographic material. But no reasonable ...even sensible person would suggest that a child is to young to be raped by his local trusted parish priest and left for non-existent by the church! Except those who by some malfunction have lost the natural bridge between mind and heart.
